NXT Takeover: San Antonio is set to air the night before the Royal Rumble and every NXT title will be on the line. Asuka is set to defend her belt in a Fatal 4-Way match, and although the NXT Women’s Title match doesn’t have the same luster as previous title matches, it does present the perfect opportunity for Asuka to lose her title without being beaten. This would be a great way of moving her on to another feud without losing heat by suffering a direct loss.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that out of the top three challengers in the women’s match at Takeover, Billie Kay is the most likely to take the strap from Asuka because it seems that she is being groomed for the title. If Kay were to come away as Women’s Champion at Takeover, then Ember Moon or Asuka would be challengers for her title. If Asuka does retain in San Antonio, Asuka vs. Moon could very well be the next pairing.
Bobby Roode is being primed to capture the NXT title sooner than later. Although the title switch might not happen at Takeover, his rivalry against Nakamura is probably going to continue unless Tye Dillinger steps up to challenge for the big belt in NXT.
Then again, any of these plans could always change if Nakamura or Dillinger get a main roster call-up at the Royal Rumble.
