It doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing John Cena back in a WWE ring before this summer according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Cena has been out for several months rehabbing an injury and despite his inhuman ability to heal insanely fast, Cena isn’t expected to return to the ring until July.
That means as far as the pay-per-view schedule goes, John Cena will be missing WrestleMania 32 (which he has already officially counted himself out for), Payback and Extreme Rules. If John Cena does return in July that means he would likely be available for the Battleground pay-per-view that month.
John Cena has still been hard at work trying to make a comeback and he recently crossed the 350 hour mark with his rehab. Although Cena won’t be wrestling at WrestleMania 32, many people in WWE expect him to make some sort of appearance.
Cena worked his first WrestleMania match on the main card at WrestleMania 20 and he’s been a mainstay at the event ever since. This will be the first year that John Cena hasn’t competed at WrestleMania since 2004.
Throughout the course of his career John Cena has faced big name opponents such as Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Rock and more at WrestleMania. Before he went down with an injury it was rumored that WWE had plans for him to face The Undertaker at the show of shows this year.
