The Latest On James Storm’s Status With Impact, Backstage News From The TV Tapings

The stars of Impact Wrestling are up in Canada at the moment, and they’re hard at work tapings several weeks worth of TV episodes that will carry Impact through the rest of the year. The Impact Wrestling roster is in a constant state of flux, and it sounds like the roster could be going through changes once again in 2018.

PWInsider is reporting that at the TV tapings there has been backstage talk about some talents taking lesser deals, and it’s believed that some of the higher paid talents could be on their way out if they turn down attempts from Impact to get them to take less money.

All eyes are on James Storm at the moment because his contract with the company is set to expire in January. Tonight is the last night of the TV tapings in Canada, and the company won’t be taping TV again until the new year, so it’s possible that James Storm will be written out of the storylines tonight.

James Storm has been with Impact since 2002, but a few years ago he did leave the company for a short run with NXT. Storm had nothing but good things to say about NXT, but during a recent interview he noted that the timing wasn’t right for him to join the company. However, it appears that the door is open for him to return if he chooses to.

“With the schedule of NXT and he was telling me we’re going to try and run 100-120 shows from here on out throughout the year and stuff,” Storm said. “It’s all great and everything but where I was, personally, in my life, I couldn’t be on the road that much because I had some family problems, my wife wanted to have another kid. So, it was one of those things where it wasn’t the right timing for me. Hunter straight up told me, ‘Go get your life together. This is my number. Maybe in two years, we can do business again.’”

Impact is said to be going through another changing of the guard with Scott D’Amore taking the reigns in terms of creative. Scott D’Amore was the sole person in charge of producing the main event for Bound For Glory, and Abyss, Sonjay Dutt and Gail Kim produced other matches throughout the card.

At Bound For Glory, Alberto El Patron cut a promo talking about how the company screwed him, and it’s worth noting that the promo has been cut from the UK broadcast of the pay-per-view.

It’s also being reported that some in the locker room were unhappy about the fact that Alberto was given his own private trailer, and most of the other male talents had to share one locker room. Patron’s deal apparently entitles him to a private locker room.
