Rusev was written off WWE TV back at Fastlane when he was not only defeated but absolutely destroyed by the Big Show in their match, it was then revealed that this was so that Rusev could undergo much-needed shoulder surgery that forced him to miss WrestleMania.
It is reported that Rusev’s recovery is going well, and Lana recently spoke to Busted Open Radio, where she gave the fans an update on her husband’s current progress with rehab.
She said: “He’s good. He had shoulder surgery, so he’s healing up. He just started working out again. He’s really excited about that. Yesterday he went to the gym and did two separate hours of cardio. I’m glad he’s feeling better that he can actually… because that was the hardest thing for him. He was like ‘I want to work out, I want to work out.’ But, you can’t work out. … (He’ll be back in) 2 to 4 months, somewhere around there. That’s what they said.”
In two to four months time the WWE landscape will be much different compared to what Rusev is used to, with the Superstar Shake-up taking place next week and the build up to SummerSlam expected to begin in a few weeks time; Rusev will be returning to a very different roster in the summer, which means he could be given much better opportunities moving forward.
