Rusev is more popular than he’s ever been at the moment, and his recent surge in popularity can be attributed to all things Rusev Day. Everywhere WWE goes, fans chant “Rusev Day” as loud as they possibly can, and it doesn’t look like the chant will be losing momentum anytime soon.
The Bulgarian Brute has a lot of personality, and he’s finally getting the chance to show it on TV. When asked why the fans are finally connecting with Rusev on this level, his wife Lana said that she thinks they want to be part of something more.
“I think he is a super athlete and I have been saying that for years,” Lana told HollywoodLife.com. “I would introduce him as a super athlete and he truly is one of the best in ring competitors. I also think in Total Divas, he also showed that he is really funny and entertaining. On the show, he shows that he has a great personality. I think it took – instead of a “U-S-A” chant, they want to be part of something more. They want to chant ‘Rusev Day’ because every day is Rusev day!”
The SmackDown Live star also commented on General Manager Daniel Bryan recently getting cleared for a WWE return, and she said that it gives her hope that she will be able to continue pursuing her dream of being a wrestler.
“We are so excited. We are so excited to have him back. I know for me, personally, I was in tears when he did his speech on coming back because it gives me hope that no matter what anyone says, I am going to continue for my dreams and continue to wrestle and compete.”
