There has been a lot of hype and anticipation surrounding the idea that Kurt Angle might make a WWE in-ring return at some point after his Hall of Fame induction. The Olympic Hero recently spoke to Ring Rust Radio and they discussed this very topic.
“It does give me a lot of hope. I wouldn’t doubt once we get past the Hall of Fame, I take the physical and pass it—which most likely they are going to want me to do—I wouldn’t doubt that I would be in the title hunt,” Angle told Ring Rust Radio. “When you have big names like that you have to use them the right way. You don’t put them on an opening card match and not promote that. When you have a name like Goldberg or Brock Lesnar come back, or the Undertaker comes back when he’s been gone for 10 months, or a Kurt Angle that hasn’t been there in 12 years, you’re going to want to put them in a pretty high profile spot.”
When it comes to ring-rust, there is none. If you’ve seen the matches that he’s been pulling off as of late you would be impressed. It’s not the same Kurt Angle that once dominated WWE for the better part of a decade, but he is a much wiser and more methodical ring technician, even more than he already was.
Now it’s up to Vince McMahon to decide if Angle can go. He will still have to pass WWE’s thorough physical exam in order to be cleared for in-ring work, but as long as he can get over that hurdle he’s golden. They can certainly fit him into a program with any number of amazing opponents, so here’s to hoping that it’s just a matter of time before we see Kurt Angle in the ring again.
