Brock Lesnar is without a doubt one of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling, but after he parted ways with WWE in 2004 he spent several years away from the business. Ultimately Brock returned to WWE in 2012, but it sounds like he was interested in signing with TNA at one point in time.
During a recent episode of the Kurt Angle Show, Angle revealed that Brock Lesnar wanted to sign with TNA in 2007, but the company didn’t have the budget to give Lesnar the money he was looking for.
“So he said, ‘Hey, what are you making?’ I told him what I was making and he said, ‘If you can get me that, I’ll come.’ I approached TNA, and they said, ‘No, we’re not going to give him that kind of money.'”
“It was amazing because, I think that TNA at the time, I think they were at the top of their budget, where they couldn’t really give any more money out. I was making a lot of money. Sting was making a good bit of money, and then you had a bunch of guys on the roster.”
“TNA, the Carter family funded it for a long time, and then TNA started making their own money, but it just wasn’t enough to bring in another guy for seven figures a year. I don’t think they were capable of doing that.”
Brock Lesnar last competed at Crown Jewel in November where he defeated Bobby Lashley. It’s expected that he will return at some point for a third match with Lashley, but that hasn’t been confirmed. Stay tuned for updates.
