Over the years fans have seen some big names come together to form powerful stables, and during his run in TNA, Kurt Angle joined forces with Sting, Booker T, Kevin Nash and Scott Steiner. Collectively they were known as the Main Event Mafia and the original incarnation of the group stayed together for a year.
During a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show, Kurt Angle discussed the group’s run in TNA, and he opened up about why he thinks the Main Event Mafia didn’t end up being a bigger deal.
“We all knew. It actually worked out even better once we formulated it. We were like ‘Holy c**p, this thing is going to be huge.’ I just don’t think that we gave it enough time. I think if we let it mature for a while, it would be every bit as big as the nWo.”
The second incarnation of the Main Event Mafia launched in 2013 and included Kurt Angle, Sting, Samoa Joe, Magnus and Rampage Jackson, but ultimately the group only lasted a few months.
Do you think the Main Event Mafia could have been as big as the NWO? Sound off in the comments below.
