At WrestleMania, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn faced off against Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan, and Bryan announced ahead of time that if Owens and Zayn could pick up a win, they would get their jobs back on SmackDown Live.
Unfortunately for Sami and Kevin, they didn’t pick up a win, so they showed up on Monday Night Raw this week and asked Kurt Angle if he could help them out. Kurt informed them that he didn’t have a spot for both of them, then he told Owens and Zayn he heard TNA is hiring. The crowd popped big for that comment.
Angle then booked Kevin Owens in a match with Sami Zayn for later in the show, and he announced that the winner would get a spot on Raw.
Shortly after Kurt mentioned TNA, Impact posted the following:
Rosemary also reacted to the reference by encouraging fans to watch Impact on Thursday.
As Zayn and Owens faced off on Raw, Kurt Angle watched the match closely from the backstage area.
The match ended when Owens hit Zayn with the Fisherman Buster Suplex from the top rope, but both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn failed to get up for the ten count, so the referee called for the bell. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are both still fired for now.
The crowd chanted “TNA, TNA, TNA” as Owens and Zayn argued with the referee.
