Kurt Angle’s career has been pretty darn special so far and after last night’s Raw in Knoxville, TN he wanted to let the fans know how much they meant to him. It was a pretty great moment and WWE is super cool for letting Angle give his heartfelt thanks to the WWE Universe.
It wasn’t flashy, it wasn’t a work, and it wasn’t really anything really extraordinary but Kurt Angle got real when talking to the WWE Universe and you could tell how much it meant to him.
After Raw went off the air, Angle’s music hit and people chanted at him in the usual fashion. The Olympic Hero smiled and walked to the ring while waving to his fans. Then he took the microphone and spoke from the heart.
“I hope that every one of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We all have a lot to be thankful for. I’m thankful for my family, my beautiful wife, and my wonderful kids.”
“I’m thankful for the men and women in the back that inspire me each and every day and I’m thankful for The Shield — what a night, they allowed me to be a part of their team at TLC. I’m thankful for the WWE for allowing me to come back to entertain each and every one of you.”
“And last but not least, I’m very very thankful for the WWE Universe for making me feel like I never left in the first place. So thank you all you so much. I appreciate it, and God bless you.”
Then everyone chanted, “you suck” at Kurt Angle anyway because that’s what you do to sing along with his theme song.
I also wonder why Angle didn’t namedrop Jason Jordan when talking about his kids. I guess if he wants you to assume he’s talking about JJ he’ll just leave it up to speculation. But this speech was from the heart and a very cool moment, indeed.
