Kurt Angle had a long career inside the squared circle and he competed against some of the best in the world before he hung up his boots for good. Angle is still keeping a close eye on the wrestling business and he recently praised Roman Reigns during an interview with Rewind Recap Relive.
“Roman, when he started out, he was a little green. The reason why the fans didn’t accept him is because Vince [McMahon] kept pushing him when he wasn’t ready. But Roman Reigns stepped up to the challenge, he started getting better and better, and he started improving, and he earned his right to where he is today. He’s the best wrestler in the business right now, and he deserves to be the champion, the longest-reigning champion in the current day. He deserves this.”
Roman Reigns has certainly been on a roll over the last few years as he’s been Universal Champion for 939 days as of this writing. He’s also been the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion ever since he defeated Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38 last year.
Recently there’s been a lot of speculation regarding how much longer Roman’s title reign could last as he’s currently set to defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania on Sunday, April 2. Stay tuned for updates.
