According to The Hollywood Reporter, a film called “In The Ring” is in production which will star Tommy Dreamer and Kurt Angle among a slew of other names from professional wrestling. The movie is said to be something akin to “Major League” only it will be in the world of professional wrestling. This exciting concept of a film will follow Sledgehammer Sullivan who will be played by Kurt Angle as he leads a group of misfit professional wrestlers who “take on a multinational corporation and a rival extreme federation headed by Matt Manson (Tommy Dreamer) to gain a network-TV contract in a winner-takes-all pay-per-view”.
The Box-Fly Pictures production will also feature a number of names from the professional wrestling industry including Daniels, Kazarian, John Morrison, Ken Anderson, Jay Lethal, Joey Ryan, Candice LeRae, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Kevin Kelly, Nick “Magnus” Aldis, Chad “Gunner” Lail, Dalton Castle, and The Briscoe Brothers, with other wrestling names yet to be announced.
No release date has been set for the underdog comedy as of yet, but it sounds like something that wrestling fans will definitely want to keep on their radar.
The film is based on a story written by Tony Lee, Christopher Daniels and Frankie “Kaz” Kazarian.
