On Sunday night Kofi Kingston successfully defended the WWE Championship against Dolph Ziggler at the Stomping Grounds pay-per-view.
On Monday Night Raw he was confronted by Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, and he then faced off against both of them one after another in singles matches.
Kofi Kingston was able to defeat Zayn and Owens respectively, and after he claimed two victories he walked back up the ramp with his WWE Championship in hand.
As he was celebrating on the ramp, Samoa Joe attacked Kofi Kingston from behind.
Joe then assaulted Kofi, and slammed him into the stage with a Uranage before leaving.
