It’s often said that injuries come at the worst times, but to be honest there is no good time to have an injury. But one awful time to get injured is when you’re starting a championship run.
It seems like The New Day might be having a hard time already during their fourth title reign as Tag Team Champions. After all, Xavier Woods is currently out of action due to a knee situation.
Now there are reports saying Kofi Kingston was possibly injured during his match in Honolulu, HI on Wednesday night. This is really awful timing because The New Day had just picked up the SmackDown Tag Team Championships on the previous day in Las Vegas during an incredible Sin City Street Fight against The Usos.
Kofi and Big E were taking on Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler in a tag match. The New Day were victorious but according to those in attendance, Kofi needed to be helped to the back by medical personnel.
With Xavier Woods also on the shelf due to injury, who knows how this story will end? Some might assume the New Day will be forced to vacate the titles or simply hand them back to Jimmy and Jey. But if WWE was eventually planning on them breaking the record for most times holding a Tag Team Championship then this might be a pretty good reason to have their fourth title run end so abruptly.
It seems like New Day are a perfect combination because they can be so interchangeable. But since Xavier Woods is already out dealing with a knee issue, it might mean they have to give up the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
After all, Big E is great but he can’t be a tag team all by himself. We’ll keep you updated on this situation as more news breaks.
