Just before The New Day were switched over to SmackDown Live, Kofi Kingston went down via an ankle injury. Of course, he didn’t do it all on his own because he had help from The Revival’s figure four/top rope stomp thing they do so well. That move has proven to be very effective to give people time off for a leg injury.
WWE has been playing vignettes on SmackDown Live saying The New Day would be debuting for the blue brand soon. Nobody quite knew when to expect them though. We just knew the longest-running WWE Tag Team Champions were on their way. It’s been said The New Day were waiting until Kofi Kingston was all good and ready to return to action before they made their SmackDown debut.
The New Day guys have been making good use of their time away from WWE. While Kofi has been hard at work repairing his ankle, Big E has been marrying people and Xavier Woods has been focusing on his Up Up Down Down YouTube channel.
Now we have a little more info on the situation. The Observer reports Kofi is now out of his walking cast and doesn’t need crutches anymore. Now it’s only a matter of time before he’s back to name taking and booty shaking on WWE TV. He is expected to be back sometime in June.
