A few weeks ago Kevin Owens returned to WWE programming, and fans saw a side of Owens they hadn’t seen before.
The SmackDown Live star returned as a face, and he recently became an honorary member of The New Day when he took Big E’s spot in the group. However, his alliance with The New Day was short lived.
Owens eventually showed his true colors when he beat down Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, and now he’s set to challenge Kofi for the WWE Championship at Money In The Bank. Playing a heel comes naturally to KO, but he told The Wrap that he wanted to stay face a little longer.
“I wish I would have been able to stay on the other side of the fence a little longer, to be honest. I don’t think anybody’s really seen me as a babyface ever, or, like, the way that I envision myself being. I don’t think people have any idea what I can do on the other side. But, you know, what’s done is done.”
Owens noted that if it were up to him he would have done it differently, but in the end he knows it was the right time.
“If I’m gonna speak candidly about it, I would have done it differently. I would have turned on Kofi differently at a different time. I ended up being wrong because once I did it, I knew that was the right time and place.”
