Kevin Owens Reveals Text Message John Cena Sent Him At 1 A.M.

It’s been a while since John Cena has laced up his sneakers and stepped into the ring but the 16 time WWE World Champion is set to make his return to the blue brand next week. Cena will be teaming with Kevin Owens on the final SmackDown of 2022 and they’ll be facing off against Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn.

Kevin Owens and John Cena certainly aren’t strangers as they had a memorable feud in 2015. During an appearance on Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg, KO explained what it was like to work with Cena and why he saw himself in the former face of the WWE.

“I saw in John Cena what I was myself. but I saw it as this guy doesn’t need to be doing any of this, he just wants to do it. Now we get to team on the last SmackDown of the year, it’s just another thing I can add to the list of experiences I’ve had in WWE that are surreal and that I’m so thankful for.”

It sounds like Kevin Owens and John Cena have a friendly relationship nowadays as KO revealed a recent text he received from John when he added, “We text here and there, but it’s really silly stuff. He’s very excited. In fact, the last text I got from him was ‘I LOVE WRESTLING’ in all caps, unprompted. I think it was like 1 a.m. too. I have no clue. I don’t really know where he was in the world.”
