Kevin Owens defended his WWE Universal Championship inside the cell at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, and it was Kevin Owens who walked out with the gold.
The Owens/Rollins rivalry has been building for months and it all started when Triple H turned on Seth Rollins to help Owens win the Universal Championship. Ever since then Rollins has been on a quest to win the title, and Owens, along with his best friend Chris Jericho, has been on a quest to make Seth’s life miserable.
Owens and Rollins competed in one of three Hell in a Cell matches at the pay-per-view and the match was action packed from bell to bell. At one point Kevin Owens sprayed a fire extinguisher in the referee’s face, and the cell door was opened so the ref could be removed. While the door was open Chris Jericho made his way into the cell and locked himself in with a new referee.
The match became a two on one match, but Seth Rollins managed to get the upper hand. He powerbombed Kevin Owens over the top rope, through two tables on the outside of the ring. Back inside the ring Rollins hit Owens with the Frog Splash and went for the pin but Jericho grabbed the referee.
Rollins then brawled with Jericho on the outside. Seth powerbombed Jericho into the cage, then walked into a superkick followed by a Pop-Up Powerbomb when he got back in the ring.
Kevin Owens and Jericho beat up Rollins some more, and Owens destroyed him with a steel chair. Rollins hopped back up and took them both out with a chair, but Owens retaliated with a DDT on a steel chair.
Owens then set up two chairs and powerbombed Rollins through them for the win.
After the match Chris Jericho hit Rollins with the Codebreaker then left with Kevin Owens.
