Back in 2016, Finn Balor became the first ever WWE Universal Champion when he defeated Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, but unfortunately for Finn he was forced to vacate the title due to an injury he suffered during the match.
Kevin Owens then went on to become the second Universal Champion and he would hold the title for a few months before eventually dropping it to Goldberg.
The second ever Universal Champion recently appeared on After The Bell where he spoke to Corey Graves about his title reign, and he admitted that he wasn’t able to enjoy it as much as he should have.
“When I was Universal Champion, I had this incredible run with Chris Jericho and so many great moments, so many fun moments that people still talk about today. I’m ashamed to say that I really did not enjoy that as much as I should have.
“I’m ashamed to say that I really did not enjoy that as much as I should have. I enjoy it now looking back. When I watch the stuff we were doing together, it’s so fun, it’s so good. But in that moment, I wouldn’t take the time to appreciate what I was doing because I was worried. ‘Okay next week, what are we doing?’”
Recently Kevin Owens has been involved in a feud with The Bloodline, and it’s rumored that he could be challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble. Stay tuned for updates.
