Kevin Owens is a very busy man and doesn’t have time to enjoy a lot of things some fans do because he spends his time bettering his career and focusing on his family. When he’s not working for WWE he really can’t spend too much time concentrating on the other aspects of pro wrestling.
Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were recently guests on Talk Is Jericho where they started talking about Katsuyori Shibata’s match against Kazuchika Okada at Sakura Genesis 2017 where he suffered a subdural hematoma due to a headbutt from Okada which required immediate surgery.
“I wasn’t even aware of that because I don’t watch — I’m in my WWE bubble” Owens admitted. “I don’t really watch anything else and I don’t follow Japanese wrestling or anything like that. But I heard about it later because once I headbutted Vince obviously that’s when people came out of the woodwork saying, ‘you believe Vince would do that after Shibata?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know what the hell they’re talking about and then I started looking into it.”
But Owens was quick to make his point as Peter Rosenberg tweeted out featuring a video of the clip from Talk Is Jericho. Rosenberg was recently chastised for not following NJPW and ROH himself and Owens responded to clarify his point.
Kevin Owens might not have all the time in the world to soak up as much current pro wrestling as he might like to, but that doesn’t stop him from having a steel-trap mind for wrestling history and how to put on a good program. If everyone in the world could take notes from The Prizefighter things might be a little bit better around the world. But KO won’t be taking any notes from New Japan because as it turns out he just doesn’t have the time.
