CM Punk walked away from WWE back in 2014, but that certainly hasn’t stopped fans from chanting for him. Fans have been chanting “CM Punk” at WWE events for years now, and everyone seems to have an opinion on the chants.
Recently CM Punk has been making headlines because it’s rumored that the former WWE Champion is AEW bound, and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful recently asked wrestling Twitter if Punk’s return will stop the chants. WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash had an interesting response when he answered with the following question:
“Who cares?”
Back in 2011 CM Punk successfully defended the WWE Championship against John Cena at SummerSlam, but after the match he was attacked by Kevin Nash who made his surprise return. Alberto Del Rio capitalized on the attack when he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Punk to become WWE Champion. CM Punk then kicked off a feud with Kevin Nash which didn’t really lead to anything other than a few entertaining promos.
So far CM Punk signing with AEW has not been confirmed by either side, but there were several Punk references on Dynamite this week. Stay tuned for updates.
