The special Winter Is Coming edition of AEW Dynamite aired live on TNT on Wednesday night, and Jon Moxley defended the AEW World Championship in the main event.
Weeks ago Kenny Omega won the right to challenge Moxley for the belt when he defeated Adam Page in the finals of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament, and the two longtime rivals went to war on Wednesday night.
At one point Jon Moxley hit Kenny Omega with the Paradigm Shift on the outside, and it was teased that he couldn’t continue. As the refs checked on Omega, Moxley threw his limp body back in the ring and started beating him down.
Don Callis came to ringside with a mic, and spoke to the referee saying “he’s hurt” in reference to Omega. Callis then tapped Moxley on the shoulder. Moxley knocked him down, and Callis dropped his microphone. Kenny Omega then used it to hit Moxley in the head and Mox started bleeding.
Omega hit Moxley with the V-Trigger four times, then put him away with One Winged Angel to win the title.
After the match Kenny Omega and Don Callis rushed out of the arena with the belt as the announcers made it seem that they were disgusted by the title change, and that Callis and Omega were “fleeing from the scene of the crime.”
Before they drove away Don Callis told Alex Marvez that fans will find out more about what just happened Tuesday night on Impact Wrestling.
