Kenny Omega has been one of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s biggest stars over the last few years, but after he dropped the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 13, he confirmed that he was leaving NJPW.
Since then there’s been a lot of speculation in regards to where Kenny Omega will be going next, but the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Omega turned down an offer from WWE.
Kenny Omega is expected to sign with All Elite Wrestling when his contract expires at the end of January, so nothing official can be announced until February 1.
Omega is said to be very important to New Japan Pro Wrestling’s future plans, so much so that many feel it’s inevitable that NJPW will make a deal with AEW.
Initial talks between AEW and NJPW went well, but New Japan decided not to enter a business deal. However, due to the value of Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho their stance on AEW is expected to change.
