Kenny Omega appeared on the Wrestling Observer Radio show and unveiled his plan for his future in professional wrestling. After some pleasantries, he said that he wasn’t trying to work or troll anybody but now he knows what his future holds.
He said that there will be people disappointed with whichever decision he makes and he said that “it sucks to have to disappoint people.” In the end, he revealed that he will not be at the Royal Rumble.
He said that he doesn’t want to make people upset. He didn’t want people to be disappointed in the Royal Rumble match because he said that it is a match full of incredible people. He said that he wants people to enjoy the Royal Rumble and the 30 superstars that will be participating in the match and not focus on his absence.
He went on to say that he has not signed a new contract with NJPW, but will be flying to Japan in February to renegotiate his deal with them. He said that it looks like he will be with New Japan for at least another year.
He said that there are things in Japan that he feels would be left unfinished if he departed at this point. He said that the momentum he has with New Japan could make more of an impact there than with WWE due to World Wrestling Entertainment’s diverse roster.
He gave a nod to AJ Styles making his WWE debut at 39-years-old and he feels that he has time left. He said that he wants to make an impact in professional wrestling and as New Japan begins to explore the American market, he feels that he wants to contribute to that.
He went on to say. that he has a friend in professional wrestling, although he did not disclose his name, that put off signing with WWE because he wants to do something with Kenny in New Japan.
In the end, The Cleaner says that he still has time to make it to WWE eventually, but feels that with WWE’s deep talent roster that the company is in good hands. Omega said that he sees himself doing cool things in New Japan and he sees himself doing cool things in WWE, but in the end, he can’t have it all.
