Few people have taken on the WWE Universe with the force of Kane. After all, you can’t really make much more of an impact upon your debut than Kane did back at Badd Blood in 1997 when he tore the door off the cell during the first-ever Hell In A Cell Match and demolished his kayfabe brother, The Undertaker.
But it is twenty years later and Kane is looking past his WWE career. It is a sad fact, but everyone has their day when they wrestle their last match. Even though Kane isn’t looking at his retirement per se, he’s certainly looking to take it easy as he runs for Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee (assuming politics is easier than professional wrestling).
Whether you know him as The Big Red Machine, Corporate Kane, or The Devil’s Favorite Demon, Kane is a force to be reckoned with and his veteran career should be highly respected. Riju from Sportskeeda recently had the chance to speak to Kane where he opened up a little about his relationship with Daniel Bryan and how fondly he remembers all the incredible moments as a part of Team Hell No.
“I had a lot of fun with Team Hell No. It was a great time. It was a departure from what I’d done before, in WWE. Daniel Bryan and I would complement each other’s performance, and it was actually the most fun thing I’ve ever got to do.”
He also discussed one of his earlier gimmicks that didn’t pan out too well when he portrayed the fake Deisel during the Monday Night Wars.
It was a turbulent time in pro wrestling and rumor and innuendo would lead you to believe that this was done as a move in order to prove WWE’s ownership of the Razor Ramon and Diesel gimmicks.
When Kane was asked whether he ever talked to Kevin Nash about using this gimmick, he laughed while replying: “Yeah, I talked to him twenty years ago. I talked to him a long, long time ago. We laughed about it. He thought it was great.”
Seriously though, we’re glad he ended up as Kane because as great as Glenn Jacobs is at adapting to playing any character given to him it’s hard to ignore Diesel wasn’t working for him.
