Earlier this month Jon Moxley defended the AEW World Championship against Cope in the main event at Revolution, and the finish for the match was chaotic to say the least.
Christian Cage finally cashed in his title shot, and Jon Moxley successfully defended his AEW World Championship when he choked Christian out. This week on Dynamite, Cope got another shot at the AEW World Championship when he challenged Cope for the belt in a street fight.
The match started off in the backstage area then Mox and Cope battled through the crowd as they made their way to the ringside area. Cope threw Moxley onto the announce table at one point, but Mox countered and drove Cope into the table with the double arm DDT.
Later in the match Moxley wrapped a chair around Cope’s neck. Moxley went to the top rope then Cope got up, threw the chair at Mox, and hit him with a superplex. After battling back and forth for a while Cope grabbed Spike from under the ring. As he got back in the ring Moxley hit him with a cutter. Mox slid a table into the ring then set it up in the corner.
Cope slammed Spike into Moxley’s midsection, then his back, then suplexed Moxley onto Spike. Moxley stood up and Wheeler Yuta ran down to the ring then hit Cope with a running knee. Cope powerbombed Yuta through a table that was set up at ringside then Claudio and PAC jumped over the barricade and beat Cope down.
PAC and Claudio set Cope up for the Conchairto. FTR ran down the ring the make the save and Dax connected with a piledriver on Moxley. Cope then stood up and connected with a Spear to put Moxley through the table in the corner. Cope pinned Moxley, but Marina Shafir broke it up. Willow Nightingale then came down and took out Shafir.
Kip Sabian ran down and Cope hit him with a Spear, but Nick Wayne took Cope out with a cutter. Moxley pinned Cope for a two count. After Cope kicked out Moxley locked in the bulldog choke on Cope and the referee called for the bell.
After the match FTR and Willow Nightingale checked on Cope inside the ring. Cope reached out for Dax to help him up. However, Dax left the ring instead. Cash chased after him, but Dax brushed him off. Willow then helped Cope leave the ring.
