For several years Jon Moxley was known to WWE fans as Dean Ambrose, and Ambrose spent a great deal of time chasing the WWE Championship.
At Money in the Bank in 2016 he finally made it to the top of the mountain when he cashed in his contract on Seth Rollins and became WWE Champion for the first time in his career.
Moxley spoke to Sportskeeda about his WWE run, and he noted that it was a big relief when he finally won the belt.
“Best way I can describe it… it was a giant sense of relief. I had been pushing the boulder up to the top of the hill and had it roll all the way back down so many times and I felt like I disappointed so many fans by failing to win the Title so many times – Once I finally was able to check that box and get that thing… the biggest feeling honestly was relief.”
Jon Moxley is set to face Chris Jericho for the AEW Championship at the Revolution pay-per-view, and he went on to say that winning the belt will be a greater feeling than winning the WWE Championship because now he’s doing things his way.
“This, I feel, will be a far greater feeling. You know this is me, on my own, doing things my way. Totally different situation. Not even a comparable situation – as good as a night as that was.”
AEW Revolution will air live on pay-per-view on Saturday, February 29.
