Jon Moxley recently appeared on Talk Is Jericho, and he opened up about why he left WWE, and when he knew it was time.

During the podcast Moxley explained that when Mark Carrano brought up the topic of his new contract during Royal Rumble Axxess, he told him that he wasn’t going to sign a new deal no matter what. He added that he said the exact same thing to Carrano that he said to Vince McMahon and Triple H.

“This is not a decision I came to fast or lightly. This has been a long time coming. I’m not going to change my mind. This is not about any one particular thing. This is not an emotional decision. This is happening. I am leaving, and it’s ok.”

When he showed up at TV the next day he was told that there were some last minute additions to the script that called for him to work with Nia Jax.

He was unhappy about the segment, not because he didn’t want to work with Nia, but because he thought it was WWE’s way of burying him. When he went to Vince McMahon’s office to talk about why he wasn’t signing a new deal, he held nothing back and explained his issues with WWE.

“Every Monday I get a physical sick feeling in my stomach. It happens every Monday on the dot. A writer will come up to me, ‘Hey Dean, we got you for segment six,’ or whatever. He’s got a script in his hand, and I don’t know what kind of goofy nonsense, what kind of embarrassing stuff is on that script, and what kind of challenges will lay ahead to just try and not look like an idiot today. And I get a physical sick feeling in my stomach. I can’t live like that.”

He said he was hoping that Vince would just write him off TV that night. But they talked him into doing the Nia Jax feud, and Moxley added that he was completely on board for it, but the company dropped it.

Jon Moxley later mentioned that he told McMahon, “I don’t care how many zeroes you put on a piece of paper. I’m gone.”

The former WWE Champion also said that he didn’t even look at his new WWE contract when it was given to him.
