John Morrison had a decent run during his time with WWE, and he managed to win several titles while he was part of the company. Nowadays he’s working on his own projects, and he’s also wrestling in Lucha Underground as Johnny Mundo.
Morrison recently opened up about his WWE departure on X-Pac 12360, and he said that one of the things that motivated him to leave WWE was the fact that officials kept shutting down the ideas he pitched.
“That was one of the reasons I left (WWE) I was always having all these ideas… Like every week I’d pitch something like, ‘I want to have a tanning bed match with Sheamus, loser gets locked in a tanning bed.’ ‘No.’ I understand why that would be a no. I want to have a Porta Potty match with the Miz, to win you have to close someone in the Porta Potty and knock it over. I pitched these. I pitched all these ideas. It makes sense why like why you couldn’t do them… I pitched the tanning bed idea to Vince (McMahon) and he laughed at it. I don’t know if he even thought I was serious. Mundo in Vince McMahon’s voice, ‘Ha ha ha Sheamus is pale ha.’ I wanted him (Sheamus) to come out looking like Brother Love covered in that red stuff.”
Sheamus and The Miz were two of Morrison’s biggest rivals during his time with WWE, and for better or worse, it would have been interesting to see the stars cap off their feuds with a tanning bed or Porta Potty match.
Would those matches have worked, or would they have been epic failures? It looks like we’ll never know. But either way, surely they would have been good for a few laughs.
