Josh Lopez recently interviewed Johnny Mundo, f.k.a. John Morrison, on the Pro Wrestling Experience radio show. You can listen to the full interview by clicking HERE and check out a few highlights below:
His experience in Lucha Underground:
“I’m loving it. Lucha Underground is like a combination of Lucha Libre, American Pro Wrestling and gridy action films. It’s got alot of things I like action, wrestling and really good storytelling. The roster I think it’s the best roster in the world as far as talent goes. Backstage everybody is getting along and it’s really exciting for a new startup federation and it feels like it’s finding its identity each week, so its exciting to be there. The shows are great and continuing to improve and the roster is really coming to its own and were trying to define what Lucha Underground is and I think the fans that are watching the shows on television can see that.”
Rey Mysterio joining AAA and the possibility of Rey coming to Lucha Underground:
“I think that Rey Mysterio should come to Lucha Underground and I hope that he does. I think he should come here for selfish reasons (laughing) because I want to wrestle him. Rey is at a point in his career where he’s done everything and the next thing Rey does is going to be because he wants to do it and I hope it’s with Lucha Underground. I loved hanging out with him love wrestling him and I think the fans do too, so I think that would be really rad.”
His thoughts on Alberto El Patron:
“I had a bunch of matches with him during our time at WWE. A lot of them were short TV matches and I’m really looking forward to having a pay-per-view style of match with him. He’s a super talented and nice guy. I had some fun crazy times with him during our Florida tours and when he and I get in the ring together we’re going to show everybody what we can do.”
Former partner Joey Mercury becoming a part of major storylines on WWE Television:
“Couldn’t be happier for him. (Laughing) When I was watching him in the ring the other day with Jon Stewart I was falling out it was awesome. I couldn’t be happier for Joey that guy he eats, sleeps and breathes wrestling and he has his entire life. He was a genius in psychology when I met him 12 years ago and he’s been improving and upping his game ever since, so it’s really cool to see where he’s at in his career right now.”
His favorite opponents:
“CM Punk, The Miz, Alberto Del Rio, Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, Jeff Hardy. Can’t just pick one it’s like asking Jeff Foxworthy what’s his favorite joke. What’s cool about wrestling is that you do find yourself working with very talented and very versatile opponents.”
His favorite WrestleMania Match:
“24 the Money in the Bank Ladder Match. It was really the first time where I had spotlight on me and there was a lot of the guys in that match that were my friends, so that made that moment very special. Mania is awesome.”
