In the past, the WWE Universe believed John Cena vs. Roman Reigns was a massive match destined for WrestleMania. If it couldn’t happen there, it was bound to happen at some point, and at No Mercy in less than four weeks, Cena vs. Reigns will happen for the first time in WWE history.

Few people believed that their first singles encounter would happen on a PPV like No Mercy, but the match is happening so early because Cena’s schedule isn’t allowing WWE officials to wait for Survivor Series or any other WWE PPV. Apparently, Cena has another hiatus coming.
It’s being reported by DirtySheets that WWE officials were informed that Cena would need to take another hiatus shortly after No Mercy to film the Transformers spin-off film, Bumblebee in a few months. An exact date for his departure isn’t confirmed, but it’s coming very soon.
As a result, it’s likely that Cena will be putting Reigns over at No Mercy, and there may be a rematch in the cards between Cena and Reigns at TLC in October. Ultimately, WWE officials are planning to book their rivalry based on the amount of time John Cena has before he needs to leave.
