WrestleMania 33 has come and gone, and the show was full of big moments. One of the biggest moments that took place on the Grandest Stage of Them All this year happened to be a marriage proposal. After John Cena and Nikki Bella defeated The Miz and Maryse, Cena got down on one knee and popped the question, and Nikki Bella said yes.

Many fans were surprised when they found out that John Cena would be competing in a mixed tag team match at WrestleMania 33, as it was assumed months before the event that Cena would be facing The Undertaker. A John Cena vs. Undertaker match was in the original plans for the event, but Cena and Nikki’s marriage proposal changed everything.
Sportskeeda is reporting that Cena’s proposal changed things in a big way, and the idea was originally pitched to Vince McMahon by Kevin Dunn. Cena was not a fan of the idea initially, but he came around, and according to the report, once he agreed to the proposal he was rewarded with a short WWE Championship run after he won the belt at the Royal Rumble.
Original plans for the Royal Rumble called for The Undertaker to defeat AJ Styles and win the WWE Championship. Taker was then reportedly set to drop the title at Elimination Chamber where he would have been eliminated by John Cena.
According to the report, AJ Styles then would have won the title back and defended against Randy Orton at WrestleMania who was originally supposed to turn on Bray Wyatt in the Royal Rumble match.
As far as Miz goes, plans called for Shinsuke Nakamura to debut before Mania and face Miz for the Intercontinental Championship at the event.
Obviously things turned out very differently as Orton faced Bray, AJ Styles faced Shane McMahon, Taker faced Roman Reigns and John Cena wrestled in a mixed tag team match.
Do you think WrestleMania 33 would have been better if WWE officials stuck to the original plans? Sound off in the comments below.
The original plans sound way better
We could’ve seen the King of Safe Style Vs. the King of Strong Style at Mania? I feel duped.
That sounds ten million times better. Maybe if it actually had been Miz vs. Nakamura instead of what we got, people wouldn’t have been falling asleep during the match.

Does it matter? Cena would’ve won regardless of who he wrestled, and Miz, who is arguably doing his best work ever , would’ve been rewarded with another loss.
