John Cena’s legendary run will soon be coming to an end as he only has 5 dates left on his schedule before he retires from professional wrestling. It was recently confirmed that Cena will be competing in his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th, and there’s been a lot of speculation regarding who he will face.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is now reporting that current plans call for Gunther to be John Cena’s final opponent when he competes in his last match on December 13th.

Multiple sources over the last few days have reportedly confirmed Gunther vs. John Cena for Cena’s final match, and the internal listing for Saturday Night’s Main Event currently lists the match as the only bout on the show.

Two sources have also confirmed that the plan is for a tournament to be held with top wrestlers set to face off in order to determine who will face Cena in his final match. Triple H will possibly be the one to announce the tournament on air.

It was also noted that matches for the big shows through November are largely done, and Cena vs. Gunther was the final match listed based on the current direction.

Back in July, WRKD Wrestling reported that Gunther would be John Cena’s final opponent and now it seems that WWE will be moving in that direction.
