On Wednesday night the stars of WWE stepped into the spotlight at Madison Square Garden where they delivered some hard hitting action for the fans in attendance.
Former WWE World Champion John Cena made his return at the event after spending a few months away from WWE, and he managed to defeat Baron Corbin.
But Cena didn’t call it a night after his match with Corbin, instead he stuck around he made it a point to watch some of WWE’s brightest up and coming stars.
During the show UK Champion Pete Dunne teamed up with NXT North American Champion Ricochet, Aleister Black, Matt Riddle and Velveteen Dream to defeat the team of Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Adam Cole, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly.
Cena kept a close eye on the NXT stars, as fans in attendance noticed that he watched their entrances.

Johnny Gargano seemed thrilled to perform at Madison Square Garden, as he called it a dream come true, and he also shared a special moment with Cena backstage.

Cena is currently set for a series of upcoming live events with WWE, and Vince McMahon confirmed this week that he’ll be appearing on both Raw and SmackDown Live going forward.
Currently Cena’s return to TV is being advertised for the New Year’s Day episode of SmackDown.
