John Cena has been on a roll lately. He’s been snagging one film after another since his breakout performances in “Trainwreck” and “Sisters.” He is hosting the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards this Saturday and he shows no signs of slowing down as one of the biggest faces emerging in popular culture.
Now John Cena has snagged another incredible film role. Deadline reports that he is slated to co-star in the upcoming sequel to the 2015 film “Daddy’s Home” which co-starred Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.
Daddy’s Home 2 will see the return of Ferrell and Wahlberg as Brad and Dusty and their antics will continue in a big way. Deadline reports John Cena’s character arrives and “shifts the macho dynamics as Dusty faces the challenges of being a stepfather in the face of a more ripped rival.”
The film is slated for a November 2017 release and is scheduled to start shooting in the Boston area very soon. This is just one of the many reasons Cena is planning on taking some time away from WWE after WrestleMania as he is also committed to star in the upcoming comedy, “The Pact” about a group of fathers who discover their daughters all made an agreement to lose their virginity on the night of their prom.
John Cena might not be as big of a name as The Rock when it comes to Hollywood, but if these movie roles take off for him it really looks like he might be headed in that direction.
