John Cena has been part of some heated rivalries throughout his career and his feud with The Rock was easily one of his most talked about programs. Cena spent a lot of time taking shots at The Rock as he tried to convince him to return to the ring, and he sometimes questioned The Rock’s love of professional wrestling.
During a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast Cena acknowledged that he violated The Rock’s trust when he questioned his love for the business which led to him eventually admitting that he was wrong.
“It’s all in good fun and it’s all for the business, but you’re supposed to have trust with each other and I violated his trust,” said Cena. “It’s only when we started the build-up to New York that I got to look at myself in the mirror deeper and say I was wrong. Not only did I hope that he would understand my perspective, but a year later I could admit that my perspective was wrong… We could’ve done it with everyone working together and playing nice and that was my fault.”
John Cena obviously has a different perspective nowadays as he has followed a career path similar to The Rock. Cena rarely makes appearances on WWE programming nowadays as he recently said that even though he would love to be part of WWE every day his body simply can’t do it anymore.
