John Cena has been a professional wrestler for decades now and he’s faced off against some of the biggest names in the business. As he approaches the end of his career it seems that Cena wants to put the spotlight on younger talent as he announced during Raw last week that stars from NXT will face off against main roster stars at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13th.
During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez noted that following his visit to the WWE Performance Center, John Cena is said to be very high on Je’Von Evans.
“I was told that John Cena – he went down to developmental and everything – and apparently he is very, very high on Je’Von. Sheamus had a match with him at a house show and Sheamus was raving about him. I think they finally figured out – as usual they are the last f****** people on Earth to figure this s*** out – but I think they finally figured out they have something special in Je’Von Evans.”
Je’Von Evans had a great showing on Monday Night Raw this week as he faced off against Gunther in The Last Time Is Now Tournament. Unfortunately for Evans it was Gunther who picked up the win to advance to the next round.
During this week’s episode of Raw it was confirmed that John Cena will be defending his Intercontinental Championship against Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series next month. After that his last appearance is set for Saturday Night’s Main Event, so it will be interesting to see which NXT stars end up on Cena’s final show.
