For many years John Cena was the top star in WWE and he was almost always involve in the main event scene.
However, times have changed and nowadays Cena rarely appears on WWE programming as he’s focused on his acting career. During a recent interview with Willie Geist for “Sunday Today” the former WWE Champion admitted that he does think he’s reached a significant point in his career.
“When do I walk away? And when do I walk away with essentially a sense of mental and physical sanity? And I’m right at that precipice. Like, I feel great, I’m in the best shape of my life. It’s not that I couldn’t continue, but I think from this point on I run the risk of tipping that balance the wrong way.”
Cena went on to say that he will never walk away from WWE because it allows him to perform “in any capacity” but also noted that certain opportunities prevent him from wrestling.
“The opportunities that I’ve been awarded keep me from being in the ring and I actually think that’s good because it makes any time that I’m invited back to WWE super, super special. And that’s the way it should be.”
He also made it clear that if he wasn’t pursuing other opportunities that he would still be taking time off.
“If I didn’t have these opportunities, I still would be taking, actively taking, time off. My body just can’t handle the schedule anymore.”
