John Cena made his big return to WWE last week on Monday Night Raw, and Cena was clearly emotional as he entered the TD Garden in Boston. For years Cena was the face of the WWE, but appearances from him on WWE programming are far from a regular thing nowadays.
Following his appearance on Raw, John Cena noted on Twitter that it was, “the first time I entered the arena and had the thought that it might be the last time.” During a recent interview with APNews the former WWE Champion was asked about the tweet, and if he’s nearing the end of his career.
“I tried to put it in words in Twitter. I guess I didn’t explain myself correctly. It was the first time I came out into the arena knowing that this has a definitive end. Normally, you come out, you get all excited, OK, this is the next one and I’m waiting for the next one. I’m not done, of course. I made that statement accepting a match at WrestleMania so I know I have at least one more in front of me. But what I was trying to convey was, that was the first time I looked at all that excitement and energy and realized this is the twilight of that journey.”
John Cena will face Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39 next month when he challenges for the United States Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
