For most of John Cena’s WWE career he’s been the ultimate good guy, and it’s clear that some fans have been hoping to see him turn heel at some point.
WWE has had plenty of opportunities to turn Cena heel, but they still haven’t pulled the trigger.
Cena was asked about a potential heel turn during a panel at San Diego Comic Con, and he noted that a heel turn in WWE probably isn’t going to happen, which is why he’s enjoying his movie career because he’s getting the chance to play a bad guy in his upcoming film “Bumblebee.”
A fan asked him what it’s like going from a hero in “Ferdinand” to a villain in “Bumblebee” and the 16 time WWE World Champion said that it’s a great opportunity.
“To actually answer your question, I think it is a really great opportunity,” Cena said via Comicbook.com. “I have had a great career in the WWE and for that entire time I have been the good guy and that kind of went into my films so far, and now it doesn’t seem like my character in the WWE will ever evolve into that bad guy role that perhaps a lot of people have wanted; so this is kind of a way for my fans from that aspect of my career to see that side of me. So, don’t expect heel John Cena in the WWE – that’s Inside Baseball talk for some of you – but it means bad guy John Cena isn’t happening there, so this is that chance for me.”
