Survivor Series is drawing even closer and the teams are finally coming together in a big way. Rusev fought hard to attain the final spot for Team SmackDown this week but he was unsuccessful. After all, RKOs do tend to come outta nowhere.
Therefore that still left a huge hole to fill in the men’s Survivor Series team for WWE’s Blue Brand. But Shane McMahon had a pretty good idea who he could call.
John Cena has been out of action since his loss to Roman Reigns but he hasn’t been licking his wounds, in fact, it’s been a very busy time for Super Cena as he has one project after another. Now it looks like he’ll have another date on November 19th because Shane McMahon announced that SmackDown Live has secured the services of Big Match John for WWE’s November Classic as the fifth member of Team SmackDown.
McMahon proudly announced that they were further proving SmackDown Live is the superior brand with this announcement and it’s hard to argue this isn’t an impressive choice to make.
It will be interesting to see how John Cena is used in this match. After all, he was rumored to be a special referee in the champion vs champion match between Brock Lesnar and Jinder Mahal. But since the match is now AJ Styles vs Lesnar they might not need the extra star power in the match. But they certainly needed someone to fill in AJ Styles’ spot for the big Survivor Series match.
Another interesting note is John Cena and Jinder Mahal might have been penciled in for WrestleMania but since The Modern Day Maharaja dropped the WWE Championship that match might need some tweaking as well.
Therefore, it might be a good idea to keep an eye on whether or not Cena and a member of either team clash which could result in a match at Mania. Also, by the same token, I’m throwing my vote out there for John Cena vs Kurt Angle at WrestleMania 34 (just saying).
