For decades John Cena was the face of WWE, and although he may not make regular appearances on WWE programming nowadays he feuded with a wide variety of people when he was active in the ring.
Back in 2009, John Cena defended his WWE Championship against Sheamus in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match and many people were shocked when Sheamus defeated Cena to win the belt. During a recent appearance on Sport Stories, Sheamus talked about the match and noted that the finish was changed the day of the match.
“Up until that day, I was losing that match, and then things changed. Cena had a lot to do with it. Cena had a lot to do with what happened that day.”
“Also, [Cena felt] this is someone I can do business with, someone who’s believable, believable foe to John Cena, which is what John needed. Every good babyface or hero needs is a good villain, and he saw that in me. People did not like me. People hated me.”
