Sunday night at WWE Battleground, Jinder Mahal successfully defended his WWE Championship against Randy Orton in a Punjabi Prison match, and now Jinder is looking ahead to SummerSlam. The WWE Champion made his way down to the ring on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, and he demanded to know who the next challenger would be.
John Cena’s music then hit, and the 16 time WWE World Champion made his grand entrance. Cena got his usual reaction with half the crowd chanting for him, and the other half chanting against him, but Jinder Mahal cut him off before he got the chance to speak. Jinder tried to predict what Cena was going to say, and Cena told him to stop, then called him a piece of crap.
Cena then told him congratulations, and he respects the fact that he’ll do whatever he has to do to hold on to the WWE Championship. John Cena then told him he’s giving him a heads up, because he’s facing Super Cena at SummerSlam.
Cena said it was nice to meet Jinder Mahal, and he can’t see him. Cena then said, “hit the trumpets” and his music played as he attempted to make his exit.
John made his way up the ramp, but Daniel Bryan’s music hit and the SmackDown Live General Manager then congratulated both Cena and Mahal on their victories at Battleground. Bryan told Cena that he doesn’t make the matches, and on SmackDown Live opportunities are earned, even if your name is John Cena.
Bryan told Cena that next week he will face Shinsuke Nakamura on SmackDown Live, and the winner will go on to face Jinder at SummerSlam for the WWE Title.
