When John Cena Is Expected To Take More Time Off From WWE

The past few weeks have been an emotional rollercoaster for John Cena fans. After several months away from the WWE, Cena finally returned in December of 2016 and he announced that he would be challenging the WWE Champion for their title at the Royal Rumble.

The WWE Champion at the time was AJ Styles, and he managed to walk in to the Royal Rumble with the belt, but he did not walk out with it. John Cena defeated AJ Styles in San Antonio, Texas to win his 16th WWE World Title, but his reign didn’t last long.

Over the weekend John Cena defended the WWE Championship inside the Elimination Chamber, but he was not able to overcome the odds. In the end it was Bray Wyatt who eliminated John Cena and Wyatt then eliminated AJ Styles to win the title.

John Cena wasn’t around much in 2016 and it doesn’t sound like he’s going to be around all that much in 2017 either. Dave Meltzer noted on the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that the 16 time World Champion is expected to take another hiatus from WWE following WrestleMania 33.

Cena’s career in Hollywood is starting to take off and it looks he’ll likely be filming “The Pact” while he’s away, as the film has a release date of April 20th, 2018.

As for John Cena’s WrestleMania plans, he’s expected to team up with his girlfriend Nikki Bella to take on the team of The Miz and Maryse in a mixed tag team match.

On a related note, John Cena recently filmed a video showing off his Range Rover and it’s clear that he’s passionate about his SUV. You can check out the video below if you’re into that sort of thing.
