Throughout the various eras of wrestling different Superstars have stepped up to become the face of the WWE. Names such as Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin became icons that inspired millions of people all around the world, and then John Cena took the top spot.
Cena has since moved on to focus on other opportunities outside of WWE, and it seems that the company is still trying to find the next face of the brand.
However, while speaking at a Q&A session at BookCon ’19 over the weekend Cena said that WWE’s audience is more diverse now, so he doesn’t think there will be just one person leading the charge from now on.
“I don’t think there’s a universal figure that will lead the company forward,” he added. “I think as the company grows, and especially expands globally, you’re gonna have like a ‘Super Friends’ of the WWE. Which is like people who are essentially fighting for equal share of popularity. I think the band, essentially, will have ten lead singers of every different race, creed, color, sex, ethnicity.”
Do you think Cena is right, or should WWE still push one star as the face of the brand? Sound off in the comments below.
