For anyone who doubted how much money Joey Ryan brought in making towns and doing the YouPorn Plex, then this might answer that question. While Ryan hasn’t released his tax information because he’s not running for office (yet) we do have a pretty good clue he’s got some major coin because The King Of Dong Style recently purchased a $525,000 Los Angeles home with his indie wrestling money.
Ryan commented on the Sports Illustrated article about his purchase where he said, “this is possible because of the support from the fans of independent wrestling. Without those fans, the independent wrestling scene wouldn’t be as prominent as it is.”
“That goes back to the support of the fans,” said Ryan continued to SI. “I have a lot more room to be creative, and that creativity does not have lids, limits, or ceilings. That is because of wrestling fans.”
“A lot of people like to disparage the internet, but the independent wrestling scene is thriving because of the fans on the internet,” Joey said. “The fans have made professional wrestling a performance art, where we can try these ideas. Some of it falls flat, which is how art works. But if you don’t try the things that fall flat, you also wouldn’t find the ideas that catch on.”
Joey Ryan went on to further thank fans for the support that has helped him reach such a peak in his professional career. His merchandise is at Hot Topic stores everywhere now and he’s also appearing on television shows like GLOW. Therefore, it looks like there is plenty more to come from the 38-year-old indie wrestling star.
If Joey Ryan is performing in a town anywhere near you, it is certainly worth the time to see him work. But you should also be warned that he’s not going to stop using his junk like a weapon anytime soon either. After all, that’s his bread and butter.
But this is certainly a big deal for Joey and we’d like to congratulate him on quite an impressive purchase.
