Kevin Owens took out Randy Orton with a piledriver back in November, and The Viper returned at Elimination Chamber last month after sitting on the sidelines for months. Shortly after it was confirmed that Orton would face Kevin Owens at WrestleMania, but Owens was unfortunately pulled from the match after it was revealed that KO has been sidelined indefinitely due to a serious neck injury.
Randy Orton appeared on the Friday Night SmackDown before WrestleMania, and Orton confirmed that he would be holding an open challenge during night 2 of the big event. The Viper received a huge reaction from the fans in attendance who loudly sang along to his entrance music while he walked to the ring.
When Orton got in ring he pointed out that this was his 20th WrestleMania. He said whoever comes through the curtain will be getting their WrestleMania moment courtesy of the RKO.
Joe Hendry’s music then hit and the crowd immediately started singing along to his entrance music. Randy Orton looked focused as Joe Hendry made his way down to the ring.
Orton immediately went for the RKO, but Hendry blocked it then rolled Orton up and The Viper escaped. Randy connected with the DDT from the middle rope then went for the RKO. Hendry blocked it again and connected with a fallaway slam. Hendry did his signature pose as he smiled at the camera. While Hendry was distracted Randy Orton connected with the RKO out of nowhere then pinned Joe Hendry to win the match.
As Hendry was selling the RKO, Randy picked him up and told him to take a look around. Orton clapped for Hendry then held his arm up. Hendry went to leave the ring, but Orton hit him with one more RKO for good measure.
