Jinder Mahal Says Losing The WWE Championship Was One Of The Best Matches He’s Ever Had

Jinder Mahal surprised us all when he picked up the WWE Championship from Randy Orton at Backlash 2017 and held the title for most of the year. Now as he looks back at his impressive run as champion Mahal has to give it up to the guy who was able to beat him and take his beloved title.

The Modern Day Maharaja recently spoke to The Independent where he praised AJ Styles for being Phenomenal. He also went on to say that the match he had with Styles in Manchester which cost him in WWE Championship was one of the best matches he’s ever had.

“It was the very first time in the history of WWE that the title had changed hands overseas. History was made that night and the match was probably one of the best I’ve ever had,”. “I’ve said this before, but I feel that although I lost, I really won that night. The energy in the arena that night was amazing and AJ Styles really is phenomenal – the fans just love him. I think he might be the number one, top star in WWE in terms of fan reaction because everybody loves him.”

“Everyone that night was genuinely so happy for him, so it was a little bit bittersweet for me. I was laying on my back on the mat with my eyes closed, listening to the reaction of the crowd and a couple of tears fell in the ring, of happiness as everyone was so pleased for him. It was a very cool moment and it was a moment I’ll never forget.”

Mahal realized the honor he was given when WWE not only let him carry SmackDown Live’s top title for so long but also that he was the first WWE Champion to lose his title overseas. True, Mahal didn’t get to travel to India and perform in front of his people as champion but he did get to main event the India show in a losing effort to Triple H so that’s something.
