A few weeks ago AJ Styles defeated Jinder Mahal to become a two time WWE Champion, and Sunday night at Survivor Series, Jinder Mahal announced that he was invoking his rematch clause on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live.
However, it appears that the title match has been dropped, as it’s not being featured in WWE’s official preview for SmackDown this week. WWE also posted a video where Jinder talks about when his rematch will take place, and he indicated that it won’t be happening on SmackDown Live this week.
“Very soon I will become a two time WWE Champion. So where and when The Modern Day Maharaja pins you, and reinvokes his rematch clause that’s yet to be seen, but I promise you, there will be gold around his waist very soon.”
Those certainly don’t seem like words coming from a man who plans on challenging for the WWE Championship tonight, but either way The Bludgeon Brothers are still being advertised to make their debut, so that’s exciting right?
It was at one point rumored that Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles would be fighting for the WWE Championship at Clash of Champions, so perhaps that match will end up taking place at the pay-per-view.
