Could Jinder Mahal Hold His Title Through WrestleMania?

Jinder Mahal was once a member of 3MB, and he was thought of as an enhancement talent. But after his release from WWE, he obtained the sort of physique Vince McMahon dreams about.

On his return to the company, he saw the proverbial brass ring and grabbed it becoming WWE Champion in quite a shocking move, and he has been able to turn one of the biggest Cinderella stories in pro wrestling history into quite an impressive title reign so far.

WWE started putting up matches from the Mae Young Classic on YouTube. A few days later, they noticed something quite shocking as the Dakota Kai vs Kavita Devi match had 1.431 million views. This was way more than any other match by a ton.

Apparently, the Kai vs Devi match was shared on several Indian news websites and the click-count from that exposure caused the viewership to skyrocket.

Bryan Alvarez recently discussed this on Wrestling Observer Live and explained how India’s social media influence might be a primary reason why Jinder Mahal could keep his championship even longer.

“So I’ve said it before if you’re expecting them to give up on Jinder Mahal anytime soon, I still predict that he’s going to be champion all the way through WrestleMania.”

Alvarez went on to speculate some ways Jinder Mahal might hang onto his WWE Championship including the idea of a fatal four-way match for the title at Hell In A Cell.

“If they do a four-way at Hell In A Cell that’s even more likely. Like a one-on-one match in Hell In A Cell, nobody can get in that’s just not what they’re doing with the guy. He’s always having interference. He could easily steal a pin in a four-way at Hell In A Cell. So I do expect they’ll do something like that, screw somebody somehow and Jinder gets the win. But I think he’s gonna be champion for a while. I don’t think they’re giving up.”

Jinder Mahal has already impressed millions of people around the world during his championship reign. Whether you’re a fan of his or not you have to admit he’s got the menacing foreigner character down to a science and the fact he’s being booked as a babyface in India is even more interesting.

Even if Jinder Mahal’s championship reign ends tomorrow he has still done enough on the top of the roster where it would be hard to forget how formidable of an opponent he is. Through his championship reing, Jinder has been able to more than solidify himself as someone worth paying attention to.

If Jinder Mahal did hold the WWE Championship through WrestleMania it would tell a great story. WWE could have time for a babyface to challenge Mahal and allow the feud to come to a boiling point at the Show Of Shows.

Only time will tell how this one plays out.
